Glitchless Ruleset

Since the creation of No Major Glitches category, there has been a discussion of adding a Glitchless category to Time Trials in Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled. It was initially discarded because we didn't know enough about the glitches discovered in that time.

The community has thoroughly analyzed the game and discovered the way to establish a consistent, balanced, and competitive ruleset without relying on glitches. After four years since the release of the No Major Glitches ruleset, we are excited to introduce the Glitchless ruleset!

Before starting, keep in mind the No Major Glitches Ruleset also applies here. So, here is what is BANNED and ALLOWED in the Glitchless category.

What is BANNED

Early 150 jumps

By abusing invisible or imperfect collisions, some tracks give you the ability to get a 150 fire earlier than would be possible when playing conventionally.

Below is a list of examples that are not allowed:

Polswid tech

Using polswid in any form is not allowed. Below are two examples of places where polswid can be used in No Major Glitches but ARE NOT ALLOWED in Glitchless.

Also, using polswid in the lap before a fast lap to keep the momentum of an offroad polswid is NOT ALLOWED.

Speedghosts

A speedghost is the act of manipulating the game's mechanics to gain speed impossible to achieve when playing conventionally.

To encourage a competitive and fair environment, if a player attempts a doubtful strat in an area where a Speedghost is possible, the run may be considered No Major Glitches.

Below are the types of Speedghosts that are NOT allowed with some examples:

Abusing moving platforms speed with imprecise collisions

Some tracks have imperfect collisions that can cause various effects on the gameplay. We have an example on Assembly Lane where the effect of the collision is maintaining the momentum of the moving platform. This makes the run too dependent on this physics glitch.

What is ALLOWED

On the other hand, there are a handful of tech that while may not intended, are not banned in the Glitchless category.

No Major Glitches shortcuts

All shortcuts allowed in No Major Glitches Ruleset are allowed in the Glitchless category. Check No Major Glitches Ruleset to see de details.

Offroad boost

Some offroads sections may provide a small speed boost if you fall in them in a certain way (typically when going downhill). These types of speed boosts are ALLOWED because they are easy to achieve consistenly, and while the advantage they offer is noticeable, it’s not significant.

Below is a list of examples that are allowed:

Fast jumps

Some places in the game gives you a faster jump than usual without the use of any wall or physics manipulation.

This type of jumps are ALLOWED in the glitchless category.

Below are some examples that are allowed:

Skipping magnetic pads

Some high jumps in the game have a magnet that reduce the height of the jumps, but also slows the kart's speed. However, this magnetic pads can be avoided, which is ALLOWED.

Below are some examples that are allowed:

Abusing imprecise collisions to achieve a land boost

Below is the only optimal example in the game:
